2025. WordPress now allows connecting AI agents to the site via MCP

A new version of the content management system WordPress 6.9 has introduces components for connecting websites to the AI Internet. First, this is the Abilities API – a new API interface that allows plugins, themes, and the WordPress engine itself to describe their capabilities in a format understandable not only to regular programs but also to AI agents. Second, webmasters can now install the MCP Adapter plugin, which makes their website accessible to AI agents via the MCP protocol. This allows website content to be used as context for AI chat (for example, to conduct an SEO content audit, analyze statistics, and compile sales reports) and even ask the AI agent to perform actions on the website (create posts, edit them, and delete bad comments). Although the AI functions are not yet visible in the WordPress admin interface, the foundations created mean that WordPress is now understandable to AI systems.
2025. AI SEO/GEO startup AirOps raises $60 million

Recently, a slew of startups have emerged promising full SEO/GEO automation using AI. They say - you simply enter a topic, and the service automatically collects queries, studies competitors, and writes excellent articles. However, this tactic is more likely to result in filtering by search engines. AirOps doesn't promise AI automation, but rather serves to organize human-in-loop content creation processes. AI is used to analyze data collected from search engines and AI chats, data from corporate applications and content sources, and to assist in topic selection, checking human-written articles for brand compliance, search algorithms, and chatbot preferences. Of course, along with AI functions, the service provides conventional (non-AI) tools for monitoring content success, monitoring content update/creation processes, and tools for content collaboration. Investors have appreciated this approach, and the service has already raised $60M.
2025. Yoast adds AI summarization to WordPress

The popular SEO plugin for WordPress - Yoast - has added the AI Summarize tool, which allows you to display a summary block at the beginning of each article that provides readers the main ideas from the text. It scans the text of your post in the WordPress editor and creates a short summary in the form of a bulleted list. You can see the contents of the block as you write the article and, incidentally, adjust its sense direction, since it is necessary to take into account how the AI perceives your content (and will then use it in its responses). Yoast AI Summarize currently works in the WordPress block editor for posts and pages. The block is fully editable; you can change the title, rewrite the bulleted lists, or move it anywhere in your content. Yoast AI Summarize is available to all Yoast SEO Premium customers and is included in the Spark counter (generating one summary = one Spark).
2024. Ahrefs launches AI Content Helper

The new AI Content Helper tool in the Ahrefs SEO service allows you to intelligently select keywords and optimize your content based on competitor data. Simply enter the keyword you want to rank for, then select suggested search queries for which to optimize your content or choose competitors from a list. Content Helper uses AI to identify keywords for your target keywords, helps you compare your content with your competitors' content on these topics as you write, and provides recommendations and ideas for titles, meta descriptions, and subheadings, as well as internal linking to increase your page's authority.
2023. SE Ranking adds AI to Content Editor

SEO service SE Ranking has added AI to its content editor - now you can create entire articles from scratch with a single click. The tool automatically searches for suitable content sources and generates text. You can also use step-by-step article creation with step-by-step instructions and change user settings for greater control over the process. Specifically, you can add the following information to the tooltips: user intent, target audience, optimal content format, and user knowledge level. The developers claim to have achieved greater text flow and made AI-generated content more natural. You can also track content performance directly in the editor: number of impressions, clicks, CTR, and average search position.
2022. Retext.Ai opened API for mass rewriting of text content

ReText.AI, a smart copywriting service powered by artificial intelligence, has announced the launch of its API for businesses. Users can now perform mass automated rewriting and upload texts to their websites. The ReText.AI API allows copywriting exchanges, scheduled posting services, SMM agencies, and SEO specialists to optimize the preparation of text materials. The new product is also suitable for email newsletters, website builders, and any projects involving text content.
2016. A live example of a robot writing texts in natural language

The French company Yseop specializes in automatically generating news, corporate reports, and client emails. On the company's website, you can play with a live example: it's a financial article that updates automatically every time you change the input data in the sidebar. Initially, the article talks about "significant positive dynamics," but if you enter a lower figure, the text changes to, for example, "a sharp decline."
2016. Narrativa automatically creates sports reviews

Spanish startup Narrativa has created a neural network that automatically generates football match summaries based on game statistics. Example text: "Sevilla beat Athletic, making it eight wins at home. Gameiro scored the first goal and finished the game with a penalty after Kočovák was sent off. Athletic were unlucky: despite constant possession, the team failed to convert a number of potential scoring opportunities." How does this happen? First, the neural network was fed a long series of football summaries, training it to extract statistical facts (goals, shots, ball possession percentage, substitutions, cards, etc.) from the text. Then, the neural network was run in the opposite direction, so that it could generate sentences based on the statistical facts.
2015. Narrative Science: By 2025, 90% of news will be written by robots
American company Narrative Science is a pioneer in the automated text writing market. Their artificial intelligence platform, Quill, finds patterns in big data and generates texts in natural (English) language. Of course, these are template texts, but the neural network is trained to select the correct sentence templates for the corresponding source data. Most often, these are short notes that reflect stock price fluctuations or are devoted to similar topics. Narrative Science's main competitor is another American company, Automated Insights, whose Wordsmith platform can sort through tables, statistics, and comments and transform the resulting information into a short note.
2013. Yahoo! buys news-mining app for $30 million
Yahoo! has acquired the mobile news reader app Summly for $30 million. The app was created a couple of years ago by a 15-year-old English guy Nick D'Aloisio. Summly's trick is that it automatically creates a summary containing the most important information from the long text of each news item. The summary size is up to 400 characters (slightly longer than a Twitter message). To do this, the app highlights key sentences in the text that convey the main idea. According to Nick, the app uses genetic algorithms that imitate human thinking. However, these algorithms were not invented by Nick - they were acquired from SRI - the same company that created Siri and sold it to Apple.
