Google has updated its research tool NotebookLM. Previously, it required users to provide their own sources to begin building a knowledge base and extracting useful information. Now, you can ask your first question, and the chat will automatically prompt you to compile a list of relevant sources from Google search. This feature can help users access primary sources in other languages or discover new materials from authors working in related fields. You can also now ask the chat to generate research results in a variety of formats, including images and diagrams (.png, .svg); documents (PDF, .docx, Markdown, text files); generated images created with Nano-banana; structured data (.csv, .json); as well as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint files.
