20.09.25. Notion now has its own AI agent



The note-taking service Notion has launched its first AI agent. The agent will use all of a user's pages and database as context to automatically generate notes, reports and analytical dashboards. The agent can create pages and databases and update them with new data. Users can customize the agent's "profile" page to tell it how to access sources, format output and when implement tasks and deliverables. The agent can also be used to process data from external platforms connected to the service. For example, you can ask the Notion agent to create an issue tracking dashboard from various sources, including Slack, email and Google Drive. The new agent is based on Notion AI, an existing content search and summary feature.


2025. Notion created AI-powered email client for Gmail



Notion has released Notion Mail - email client for Gmail that integrates with Notion and uses AI to help users organize their emails, draft responses, schedule meetings and search across messages. Ill allows to separate their inbox into “views” or folders. The feature uses Notion AI to auto-label emails on a particular topic and move them into a separate topic-specific inbox. The tool comes from Skiff, an end-to-end encrypted collaboration platform Notion acquired in 2024 for an undisclosed sum. It's free but has monthly usage limits that can be removed with paid Notion tier.


2024. Notion unveiled standalone online calendar



Popular note-taking service Notion has suddenly released a standalone calendar app, Notion Calendar. This is the reincarnation of the Cron service, which Notion acquired two years ago. While Notion has long had a calendar format for notes, it was a fairly isolated calendar, not connected to Google Calendar or other external sources. The new app, which is already available on Mac, Windows, iOS, and the web, can integrate all personal and work calendars a user uses, allowing them to plan their day. While the app can operate independently of the main Notion service, if you're a Notion user, Notion Calendar allows you to attach notes and documents from Notion to calendar events.


2019. Notion - Evernote's new competitor



The Verge recently named the online note-taking service Notion Evernote's main competitor. What's so interesting about it? Notion's philosophy is that a notebook should have more than just pages for sequential text and images. It should also have tables (mini-Excel), since some information is truly conveniently stored in tabular form. It should also have mosaics (pages with blocks of information that can be dragged and rearranged). And it should also have a calendar. You can create pages in any of these formats and arrange them in a tree structure. There is a web interface, apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone. The free version is quite limited and inferior to Evernote's. However, the paid version (with all the above-mentioned features) costs half as much: $4 versus $8. There is also a team version for collaborative work with the notebook.
