2026. PHP system Rukovoditel gets dashboard with new widgets

A new version of the open-source PHP project management system Rukovoditel 3.7 has been released. It adds the ability to add widgets to the homepage. These widgets can not only display information but also perform calculations using a set of functions applied to the selected entity. Operations are possible to count the number of records or the sum of values for a specific field. These operations can be implemented as separate counters or pivot tables with a graphical representation of the data. The system also features a new "Value from Related Entity" field, which displays the value from a related record by the "Entity", "User" or "Parent Record" fields. It can be used in filters and the quick filter panel. Furthermore, the "Remember Me" function has been improved. Now, when a user selects this option when logging in, a unique token is saved in cookies. This automatically recognizes the user and allows them to log in without re-entering their password. Previously, cookies stored the username, which was unsafe.
2026. OpenProject adds collaborative document editing

A new version of the open-source project management system OpenProject 17.0 has been released, introducing real-time collaborative editing. This is thanks to the new BlockNote editor, which replaces the previous CKEditor-based one. When editing, you will see the cursors of all connected users and their updates in real time. For this new feature to work, the local network version requires a running Hocuspocus server; in the cloud version, it will appear automatically. The new version also features hierarchical workspaces (with a hierarchy by projects, programs, and portfolios), improved meeting management (thanks to draft mode, presentation mode, multiple output options, and iCal subscription), and updated SharePoint integration with stricter access rights.
2025. Kanboard - free open-source project management system on PHP

Kanboard is a free alternative to task and project management systems like Jira or Trello. Despite its apparent simplicity, it is a fully functional product and can handle a large number of users. Kanboard is written in PHP and runs on various platforms, supporting several database options. It can be installed on your own local server or VPS. As the name suggests, Kanboard's main feature is the ability to visualize tasks on a Kanban board. Kanban allows for a clear representation of the tasks a team is working on, which promotes transparency and, ultimately, faster task completion. Kanboard offers both collapsed and expanded views of tasks on the board. The collapsed view allows you to get an overview of a large number of tasks on a single screen. The expanded view presents each task as a more detailed card.
2010. TeamLab - free alternative to Basecamp

Latvian service Teamlab is now available. It's a very interesting solution for collaboration and project management, often compared to Basecamp. Teamlab is available either as a free SaaS service (with virtually no restrictions) or as an installable open-source system (again, free). Considering that Teamlab is a truly high-quality solution, comparable in functionality to Basecamp, one wonders: why such generosity? According to the developer, Teamlab was created for their own needs and they liked it so much that they decided to share their enthusiasm with others. The company hopes to attract third-party developers to develop the product and gain popularity through free users to truly compete with Basecamp in the global market. Then they plan to introduce paid features (while promising that the open-source version will remain free forever).
