2026. Jira intends to bring order to chaos created by AI agents



There's been a lot of talk lately about that AI agents create more chaos, and therefore more work for humans. Atlassian is introducing a new way for humans and AI agents to collaborate in its Jira project management software, which the company hopes will help teams accomplish "10x more work without 10x more chaos." The new version adds the ability to assign and manage tasks to AI agents from the same dashboard that managers use for their employees. Progress can be tracked, deadlines set, and other metrics can be set in the same way. Users can now even bring AI agents into the middle of an existing project. The update aims to give users the same transparency into the work their agents do as their employees, as well as coordinate activities between humans and agents.


2020. Wrike added AI to project management



Project management service Wrike has released a new version, that's adding several AI tools to help save time and improve work efficiency. The company used a massive database generated by its 2 million users to train its neural networks. Wrike can now predict potential delays and warn managers about missed deadlines, automatically prioritize messages and tasks, understand voice commands (via Siri), and suggest phrase completions in messages (similar to GMail, but currently only in English). Text recognition is also now available: you can now scan a document and attach the text to a task.


2013. Worksection has improved project tracking



Worksection, collaboration and project management service, has rolled out a new update with ton of likes and new features, the main one being the "Tasks / by People" page. It will be useful for managers who want to monitor their team's workload, quickly identify idle workers, see their urgent tasks, and reassign them if necessary (see screenshot). Clicking on any employee on this page opens their profile, which immediately shows how many tasks they have, how many tasks are approaching due dates, and how many are overdue (for convenience, each of the three digits is highlighted in a different color). The profile also shows whether the person is currently online and the date of their last activity in the system. The task list displays their priorities, the number of days overdue (for urgent tasks), and the number of days remaining (for those with due dates). Worksection also includes updates including the ability to view MP4 and FLV video files online and the ability to save filter settings on the following pages: Projects, Tasks, Time, Calendar, Gantt Chart, Files...


2010. TeamLab - free alternative to Basecamp



Latvian service Teamlab is now available. It's a very interesting solution for collaboration and project management, often compared to Basecamp. Teamlab is available either as a free SaaS service (with virtually no restrictions) or as an installable open-source system (again, free). Considering that Teamlab is a truly high-quality solution, comparable in functionality to Basecamp, one wonders: why such generosity? According to the developer, Teamlab was created for their own needs and they liked it so much that they decided to share their enthusiasm with others. The company hopes to attract third-party developers to develop the product and gain popularity through free users to truly compete with Basecamp in the global market. Then they plan to introduce paid features (while promising that the open-source version will remain free forever).
