2021. Trello adopted for more complex projects



The collaboration platform Trello has released its largest update, including a new interface design and several new features. Trello remains essentially the same: boards and cards in columns. But the capabilities of cards have been significantly expanded. A new Team Table View format has been introduced, in which a Trello board is displayed not as a set of columns, but as an interactive table (where each row is a card). The idea is to collect data from multiple boards and view it in a single table with filtering and other similar features. A similar principle, writes Fast Company, is also used by Airtable, Notion, and Coda. The new version also introduces formats with self-explanatory names: Timeline View, Calendar View, Dashboard View, Map View, and new integrations.


2021. Planview acquired competitors Clarizen and Changepoint



Planview, a market leader in project portfolio management systems, has acquired two strong competitors, Clarizen and Changepoint. The deal gives the company a vast community of PMP professionals and a wide range of solutions that will provide clients with tools and resources for more effective strategic planning and execution of their most important projects. As a reminder, Planview was recently acquired by investment funds TPG Capital and TA Associates, whose investments were aimed at accelerating Planview's growth. Clarizen and Changepoint are the company's largest acquisitions to date and represent an important first step in the company's growth strategy.


2014. SAP updates its project portfolio management system



SAP EPPM (Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management) is an enterprise solution from SAP that automates the planning and execution of project portfolios. The new version of SAP EPPM 6 addresses pressing functional gaps, improves user experience and usability by increasing speed, and further unifies project management and project portfolio management. New features include new portfolio dashboards (which replace the old ALV lists with new WebDynpro tables offering improved visualization, filtering, dynamic totals of visible columns (similar to Excel), a multilingual interface, display of archived portfolio data, search for archived portfolio objects, and an improved user interface. Compuware has released Changepoint 2009, an IT portfolio management solution that competes with products from CA and Hewlett-Packard, as well as Oracle, which recently acquired Primavera. PPM products enable enterprises to consolidate information across all ongoing projects and address four key objectives: first, prioritize projects based on expected return on investment; second, allocate resources (human, financial, etc.) to individual tasks based on these priorities; third, provide all managers with access to project implementation best practices; and finally, generate clear and understandable reports for organizational management based on information from a single, centralized source. The acquisition of Primavera will strengthen Oracle's position against HP, IBM, and CA, which have PPM systems. The corporation will also be able to offer users of its PeopleSoft PPM system the opportunity to migrate to Primavera products.
