2024. Nextcloud Talk introduces new video meeting moderation tools



Nextcloud has released a new version of its open-source collaboration solution, Nextcloud Hub 9. It introduces several new features to improve user experience, performance, and security. The updated version of the Nextcloud Talk video conferencing module adds new moderation tools for meeting moderation, including role management, time tracking, voice muting, the ability to ban disruptive users, access to offline communication, and compatibility with Apple Vision Pro. The module provides AES-256 encryption and allows for password protection of calls. In addition to video conferencing tools, Nextcloud Talk supports presentations using the online whiteboard feature.


2016. Cisco Meeting Server lets you connect Skype for Business to any device.



Cisco has introduced Cisco Meeting Server, a software solution that supports up to 96 simultaneous HD videoconferencing sessions. Cisco Meeting Server allows you to create and connect to video and audio conferences using Cisco and third-party equipment, as well as mobile clients, WebRTC-enabled browsers, and Skype for Business. (Users of this service will be able to interact with users of platforms not only from Cisco, but also from Polycom, Avaya, and other manufacturers.)

2010. HP uses Vidyo technology to lower the cost of the HP Halo



HP has entered into an agreement with Vidyo, a manufacturer of low-cost videoconferencing systems, to incorporate Vidyo's technology into the HP Halo solution. This will, of course, make the HP Halo solution more accessible to users. HP will offer both personal computers with webcams and fully equipped videoconferencing rooms as endpoints. The new solution will be based on the VidyoConferencing hardware and software solution, and HP servers will be used to support communication channels. Furthermore, Vidyo technology can be used on mobile devices, which is particularly welcome given HP's recent acquisition of Palm.


2009. Tandberg updated its video conferencing server.



Tandberg has announced new software features for its Tandberg Video Communication Server (VCS) video conferencing server. The new version (4.1) introduces Multiway, which allows Tandberg video endpoints to initiate multipoint calls at any time. VCS is now fully compatible with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and enables Office Communicator 2007 MOC clients to see the presence of standard H.323 video devices. A number of new features are also available to make Tandberg's video network more intelligent and easier to deploy and manage: enhanced security, automatic loopback detection in network requests, static NAT support, notifications about reaching maximum load within license limits, VCS server replacement in a cluster, and more.

2007. TANDBERG Video Communication Server Adds Support for SIP and H.323

TANDBERG has introduced a new version of TANDBERG Video Communication Server, which includes the new FindMe application, providing automatic call forwarding for personal and group calls. The system also supports call control and an application for transmitting data through corporate firewalls, which now operates not only on H.323 but also on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). As a result, customers can now maximize their investment in H.323-based equipment and pave the way for a smooth migration to SIP. Microsoft has introduced a new Unified Communications solution that will consist of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 (supports VoIP, video, instant messaging, and conferencing), Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 (a program for voice communication, instant messaging, and video calling that runs on PCs and smartphones), Microsoft Office Live Meeting (an Internet conferencing service that allows employees to attend events, share documents, use video, and record discussions from virtually any computer), and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (an email and voicemail platform that supports business calendaring and instant messaging).


2002. Tandberg Releases MCU Server and Video Conferencing Management System

Tandberg has released several new products, combining them into a single solution, Tandberg Meeting Place. This solution includes a new multipoint conference unit (MCU), a video conference scheduler, a new version of the Tandberg management system, Tandberg endpoints (video codecs), and embedded multipoint conference units. This solution enables users to organize video and telephone conferences, as well as mixed conferences with multiple participants. 2000. Avaya's video conferencing system now supports SIP/H.323

Avaya has expanded the functionality of its MCU (MultiPoint Conferencing Unit) video conferencing solution by adding video transmission over IP. The new version of this solution, Avaya MCU 7.1, increases the flexibility of video conferencing by allowing the use of H.323 IP and H.320 ISDN terminal equipment in a single session. This is the first IP/ISDN video conferencing solution capable of supporting speeds up to 768 kbps while maintaining image quality in accordance with the H.263 standard (a high-performance video algorithm). MCU 7.1 is also the first multipoint conferencing device. Audio-only participants can connect to the conference via either a regular PSTN line or Internet telephony. Avaya MCU release 7.1 can be configured as an H.323/H.320, H.320 only, or H.323 only conferencing system. The system is available in 12, 64, or 96-party configurations.
