2014. Google wants to integrate its video communications into all business applications



Google has taken a serious approach to promoting its Google+ Hangouts video conferencing service in the business sector. First, it released a video conferencing system for meeting rooms based on the Chromebox set-top box, then integrated Hangouts with leading video conferencing systems from Polycom and Cisco, and recently released a video conferencing plugin for Outlook. Now, Google is offering all business application developers the opportunity to embed a Hangout button into their products. And many have already taken the bait. For example, Google's video conferencing button already exists in the Salesforce CRM system, the Zendesk customer support service, the Smartsheet project management system, the Zoho Connect corporate social network, the Zoho Recruit recruiting program, and more.


2009. Cisco WebEx Collaboration Cloud - platform for web conferencing



Cisco has introduced the new Cisco WebEx Collaboration Cloud platform, designed for secure, high-quality web conferencing. The platform is built on eight data centers located around the world, providing greater than 99.99% reliability. It uses intelligent routing functions that take into account location, communication channel bandwidth, and subscriber state, which enables global load balancing and provides transparent global redundancy of voice, video, and data channels for collaboration applications (conferences, instant messaging, group workspaces, etc.). The Cisco WebEx Collaboration Cloud network supports more than 200,000 WebEx meetings daily, including Cisco WebEx Connect collaboration sessions. Cisco also introduced new versions of the Cisco WebEx SaaS conferencing applications.


2009. BroadWorks - SaaS platform for video conferencing and unified communications

TANDBERG and BroadSoft have partnered to deliver a unified communications and video conferencing platform called BroadWorks. The platform includes the E20 IP videophone, the 1700 MXP personal telepresence system, the Profile 6000 MXP video system, and TANDBERG Codian MSE 8000 series multipoint video conferencing servers. By combining BroadWorks' streamlined business solutions with TANDBERG's video conferencing technology, service providers can deliver unique business solutions to their customers in the form of Software as a Service (SaaS). The solution offers innovative and highly effective business practices, including: video messaging, video training, a video conferencing service/call center, video mail, and video response (creation of a customizable video greeting for incoming calls).


2008. Adobe CoCoMo - VoIP, video, and web conferencing for your business app



Adobe has an excellent web conferencing service, Acrobat Connect. Its core features include audio, video, screen sharing, presentation sharing, and whiteboarding. Adobe decided to break this service down into building blocks that perform specific functions and offer them to application developers as SaaS plugins. Naturally, we're talking about Flash (or Flex) applications. For example, someone might be developing an online project management system in Flex. Such a system would benefit greatly from user status monitoring, chat, and video conferencing. Now, there's no need to develop these elements from scratch. You can integrate ready-made tools running on Adobe servers into your system (for a fee, of course). This new service is called Adobe CoCoMo. It is currently in open beta testing and is expected to be commercially available in 2009.


2007. Polycom announced the RMX2000, a new platform for IP multipoint video conferencing

Polycom has announced the new RMX2000 platform for IP multipoint video conferencing. Five server models with 20, 30, 40, 60, and 80 ports will be available on this platform. Built on the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA®), these servers offer exceptionally low latency, high connection speeds, and unparalleled reliability. Pricing, depending on the model, ranges from $53,000 to $212,000.

2006. Scopia - new video conferencing platform from Radvision

Radvision has announced the replacement of its viaIP series of multipoint conferencing products with the Scopia platform, which supports a larger number of devices and handles increased call volumes. The new family includes three models. The Scopia 100 (1U), designed for small and medium businesses, features 12 audio ports. The high-end Scopia 1000 offers the ability to install 18 modules and can simultaneously handle 330 video and audio calls. The initial version of the Scopia platform supports video signals equivalent to standard TV. High-definition video support is expected in the future.
