2026. GitHub Adds Custom Fields for Issue Tracking

GitHub now supports custom fields in issues and bugs, accessible both in the interface and through the API and Actions. Previously, users could only use labels, but these lacked types, validation, cross-repository consistency, and reporting capabilities. Custom fields can be configured by type (single selection, text, number, and date), filter lists, search by content, assign fields to issue types, and generate reports. You can even track who changed which field and when. By default, each organization receives four pre-configured fields assigned to the appropriate issue types: priority, effort, start date, and target date. Up to 25 fields can be created.

2014. HelpDeskEddy automates customer support and document management

Latvian service HelpDeskEddy is a fairly powerful online customer support system. It includes the HelpDesk ticket management system, knowledge base, client portal, chat, time tracking system, and document management system. Users have extensive customization options: departments, user groups, permissions, and the ability to receive tickets via email (from multiple mailboxes) and through a website form. Email/SMS notifications, email templates, and an analysis of employee and client workloads are also available. The system is offered as SaaS by default, but custom implementation is possible with individual modifications and the programming of specific business processes (including on the client's server). The SaaS version costs 5 euros per month per user.

2013. Terrasoft launched BPMonline XRM with project management and support module

XRM is like CRM + extensions (X = eXtended). Many CRM vendors are launching XRM solutions. Why did they come up with this? To look cool. Buyers no longer get excited at the word "CRM" – they want something new. Terrasoft has been selling the traditional (on-premises) Terrasoft XRM system for several years, and has now released an extended version for its online system BPMonline XRM. It differs from BMPonline CRM in that it has three modules: sales planning, project management, and request management. The project management module is advertised as a tool for planning internal and external resources (suppliers, contractors, partners), calculating labor costs, and project profitability. The service module allows you to register, classify requests, prioritize them, assign a responsible person, and monitor deadlines. It also features a knowledge base. BPMonline XRM costs €350 per user per year (approximately €30 per month). By comparison, BMPonline CRM costs €250 per user per year (€20 per month).
