2023. Google Analytics is migrating all sites from UA to new version GA4

Starting July 1, 2023, Google Analytics old Universal Analytics (UA) counters will no longer process new data. To continue receiving statistics, you must migrate them to the new version - Google Analytics 4 (GA4). It is important to note that GA4 is not an updated version of Google Analytics UA, but a completely different platform. It allows you to simultaneously connect multiple data streams, both from mobile apps and websites, and tracks events (user actions), sessions, and conversions in a new way. Website statistics (unfortunately) will now be displayed with a delay (there will be no Today view), but Real-time statistics for the last minute will be available. A new metric, Active Users, has been added to the two existing UA metrics (Total Users and New Users). It shows the number of users who have been active in the last 28 days.

2021. Preset launches free cloud BI system

Preset, the data visualization platform developer, announced it has raised $35.9 million in funding and launched Preset Cloud - a cloud service that provides organizations with an easier way to access Apache Superset in a reliable, securely managed cloud environment. Superset, originally created by Preset founder Maxime Beauchemin while working at Airbnb, has become a very popular open-source visualization layer. Key product features include a no-code data explorer, an advanced SQL editor for building semantic data models, a comprehensive gallery of over 40 visualizations, and integration with modern data science technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Druid, Presto, and Dremio. Preset Cloud is free for up to 5 users.

2021. Metabase raises $30M for its open-source BI system

Metabase, a startup developing an open-source BI platform, has raised $30M in Series B. Metabase allows users to quickly find and share analytics data both in the cloud and on-premises, empowering organizations of all sizes to learn from their data. Out of the box, the system offers a full set of standard visualizations, including bar charts, line charts, pie charts, KPI charts, and more. It features a built-in graphical SQL editor that allows you to create simple joins, transformations, and aggregations of data using a no-code interface, which are then transformed into an SQL query that can be viewed and, if necessary, edited. Built-in data export functionality is available for Excel, CSV, JSON, and PNG. The system is already used by more than 30,000 companies and organizations in 200 different countries.

2021. Apache Superset BI system received TLS status

Apache Software Foundation has awarded its BI system Apache Superset TLS (Top-Level Status). This means the project is considered sufficiently mature and independent, and has developed a stable developer community. Apache Superset is the project's web-based solution for big data visualization and business analytics. Apache Superset enables exploration and visualization of big data from a variety of databases, from SQLite and MySQL to Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Oracle Database, IBM DB2, and many other compatible data sources. Apache Superset originally emerged six years ago from work on the Airbnb project and is now used by companies such as Netflix, Twitter, and American Express.
