2012. ProjectLibre replaces OpenProj

In 2008, the open-source project management system OpenProj was acquired by Serena Software. Immediately after the acquisition, support for the product was discontinued due to the threat of lawsuits from Microsoft for copying interface solutions, and the source code was made available for free online. The founders of OpenProj took over the project, but under the new label ProjectLibre. The developers plan to completely rewrite the application code, so ProjectLibre may soon technically shed its fork status. ProjectLibre features include support for Microsoft Project 2010 file formats, a new Ribbon user interface, Gantt charts, PERT charts, project resource allocation schedules, and PDF export. Like its predecessor, ProjectLibre runs on Windows and Linux.
