2020. Zoom unveiled paid online event and ticket sales service.

Events are moving online. Google and Facebook recently launched services for organizing paid online events. Now Zoom has followed trend. The new service OnZoom allows anyone to host events for up to 100 or 1,000 people, depending on the license, and sell tickets. Tickets can be paid for via PayPal or card. The company plans to add other payment options in the future. Currently, only paid Zoom subscribers in the US can create events, and any US user can join them. The company plans to expand the service to other countries in 2021.
2020. Google unveiled Fundo - paid webinar service

Google has opened access to Fundo, a service that allows for paid virtual events. It was designed for YouTubers and other content creators who want to set prices for online events. In addition to video streaming, it offers advertising tools and online payment processing. Google receives 20% of the revenue generated through Fundo. Content creators can also offer online events with flexible scheduling (when a guest requests and pays for the time, the content creator confirms the meeting, and they meet one-on-one). Fundo was originally conceived as a tool for organizing virtual meetups for YouTube content creators—an idea that gained traction amid COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing. However, the Fundo team discovered a wide range of use cases, including workouts, cooking classes, and webinars.
2020. Facebook Live allows businesses to monetize online events

Facebook has launched Events feature that will allow businesses to monetize their online events on Facebook Pages. While the feature was initially designed for in-person events, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated social distancing measures, the company "very quickly pivoted" to supporting online events. Businesses will be able to host larger events through Facebook Live, as well as smaller, more interactive meetings in Messenger Rooms. The goal is to give business owners the ability to create an event, set a price, promote the event, collect payments (via Facebook Pay), and host the event—all in one place. Facebook will not charge any fees on paid online events for at least the next year. However, on iOS, 30% of ticket prices will go to Apple due to App Store policies.
