2019. Zimbra now has its own document editors

Zimbra collaboration server solution now features built-in document editors Zimbra Docs. They are compatible with the main Microsoft Office formats: doc, xls, and ppt. The editors include Zimbra Writer (text), Zimbra Calc (spreadsheets), Zimbra Impress (presentations), and Zimbra Briefcase (for format conversion and file sharing). The Zimbra Docs server can be installed on a local Linux server. Currently, the built-in Office is only available in the paid version (Network Edition), but an open-source version may soon be available. Zimbra also integrates with LibreOffice, which is also free.

2018. Zimbra adds hierarchical address book

A new version of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite 8.8.10 collaboration platform has been released, boasting two important innovations. For the first time, Zimbra now supports a hierarchical address book, which offers numerous advantages over the global address list (GAL) currently used in Zimbra, as well as the ability to seamlessly change the primary email address. The fundamental difference between a hierarchical address book and a standard GAL is the ability to present contacts in a structured form based on the organizational structure of the enterprise. The advantages of a hierarchical address book over a standard GAL are obvious: Zimbra users can search for contacts not only by domain affiliation, but also by company affiliation and subordination.

2013. VMware sold out Zimbra and SlideRocket

Probably, Aaron Levy was right. With the development of SaaS API technologies it's no longer profitable to buy all enterprise software from one vendor (and for vendors it's not profitable to build full enterprise stacks). For the last couple of years VMWare was trying to build (or rather buy) the own stack of enterprise software, and now it sells it out to focus on what they really do well - virtualization systems. In March VMWare sold online presentation service SlideRocket to ClearSlide (which specializes in sales apps) and today it sold Zimbra Collaboration Suite to the developer of enterprise community-building solutions - Telligent. Recall, WMWare bought Zimbra from Yahoo! in 2010. The video above shows how VMWare was inspired by Zimbra few months ago.
