Freelance platform Upwork has introduced a new feature Instant Interviews, powered by the AI ​​bot Uma, designed to help employers streamline the initial candidate screening process. Uma can now automate the entire interview process on behalf of clients, conducting a full assessment of each candidate based on employer questions, summarizing the results, and offering recommendations. Employers can also view video interviews of candidates they are interested in. Upwork believes that AI-powered interviews will also benefit freelancers, allowing them to find jobs faster and conduct interviews at their convenience. The company also noted that freelancers will be able to demonstrate skills that cannot be fully reflected in cover letters.


2024. EasyStaff launches international marketplace for freelancers



EasyStaff, a freelance payment service (which allows freelancers to be paid by invoice), has launched its own freelance marketplace, EasyBusy. It positions itself as an international service and specializes in remote digital professions, such as developers, marketers, designers, UX/UI researchers, product managers, and others. A unique feature of the service is the ability to pay freelancers directly within the task card. For this purpose, integration with the secure online payment system Stripe has been configured, and payment by bank details is also available. Thanks to seamless integration with the EasyStart service, freelancers can receive payments in dollars and euros and withdraw funds to virtually any bank card.


2021. Fiverr acquires freelance management toolset Stoke Talent for $95M



On the heels of LinkedIn last week launching Service Marketplace, a competitor to freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, today Fiverr announced an acquisition that speaks to how it plans to stay in the game by building in more features for its users. Fiverr is acquiring Stoke Talent, which lets companies manage their freelance teams, for $95 million. Stoke’s toolset includes features to onboard new freelancers; employers can also pay them through the platform and accordingly track their overall freelance budgets. The idea here is to build tools that both tie in those employers more tightly into Fiverr’s freelance marketplace — Stoke will remain independently operated, but the products also will be integrated, so that freelancers hired via Fiverr can be onboarded and paid through Stoke — and also tie Fiverr more deeply into how those companies work with freelancers overall, even if they are not sourced via Fiverr itself.


2021. LinkedIn launched its own freelance marketplace


LinkedIn has launched a marketplace for finding and booking freelance services, which will compete with Upwork and Fiverr. The platform is called Service Marketplace. Its unique feature is that freelancers can't search for work themselves. The system works differently. Users set up freelance profiles and potential clients can then find short-term contractors and arrange for them to complete the work. This feature is available to all LinkedIn users. You can set up a freelance profile through your personal page. The service is currently free. LinkedIn plans to introduce a paid model in the future.

The freelance marketplace Freelancehunt has launched a new feature: a video resume, which allows employers to learn more about a candidate before the first interview. This format involves a video presentation of the candidate. The prospective employee introduces themselves in a short video, highlighting their experience and skills. This presentation, along with a standard resume, helps the employer form a more complete opinion of the candidate: whether they are worth pursuing further, whether they are personable, and whether they are a good fit for the position. Furthermore, with the updated service, companies can use the platform to search not only for one-time project hires but also for permanent office and remote positions.

2018. Weblancer.net adds secure payment feature



Freelance marketplace Weblancer.net has added a new feature - Secure Payments. Previously, the marketplace used the Secure Transactions system, but it had a number of shortcomings, the main one being the use of only Webmoney, which did not suit many users. The new feature allows to use Webmoney and Yandex.Money, as well as withdraw received funds directly to a Privatbank card. In general, secure collaboration has been significantly simplified. There is no longer a need to go to a separate section, there is no need to pre-create and accept contracts, add wallets - the freelancer simply publishes the final invoice and client pays in just a few clicks. There is also no need to publish personal orders when continuing cooperation. As many payments as needed can be made within a single order. Both parties get security, and the freelancer also gets a rating. The service's commission, as before, remains the lowest on the market - 5%.
