ChatGPT gets cloud file storage

OpenAI continues to attack Google on its territory (as Sam Altman says - increase the surface of contact with users). The new feature ChatGPT Library allows users to store files and pictures in one reliable cloud storage. In the web version, the section is displayed in the sidebar. ChatGPT will automatically store downloaded and generated files there, including those from chats. And then, obviously, it will be possible to use all these files as a context for new chats. For now, the new feature can be used only by paid subscribers on the Plus, Pro and Business tariffs.
Google Drive Improves Search with Gemini

Google has improved search in Google Drive by integrating Gemini's artificial intelligence. Gemini will now preview the contents of a Drive folders (if you allow it) and provide information about the files in each folder right at the top of the folder viewer. This means that in search results, you'll see a single folder with an explanation instead of multiple files within it. In theory, this will save your time. There will also be an "Explore with Gemini" option to ask clarifying questions about the folder content. This helpful update is only available to paid Google Workspace users or those with a Gemini Plus or Pro subscription.
iCloud now offers single-use emails and VPNs

iCloud subscription will include a new set of security-enhancing features. Safari will feature a new privacy feature called Private Relay, which allows users to hide their activity—akin to Apple's VPN. The "Hide My Email" feature will allow users to generate random email addresses when creating a website account or signing up for a newsletter. Apple will also provide unlimited storage for video from HomeKit security cameras. Paid iCloud subscribers will receive the Plus features for the same price as a regular monthly subscription.
Samsung is shutting down its mobile cloud service in favor of Microsoft OneDrive

Samsung Cloud, the cloud service that allows Samsung smartphone owners to store their data, will be discontinued. It will be replaced by Microsoft OneDrive as part of a partnership with Microsoft, and this service will become the only alternative for Samsung device users. Currently, every OneDrive user has 5 GB of free storage, but they can choose a plan with 1000 GB (1 TB) and an Office 365 Personal subscription. In terms of features, nothing will change for users – they will still be able to store their photos and videos on cloud servers, along with phone settings and backups. When switching to OneDrive, all content stored in Samsung Cloud will be transferred to the new cloud automatically.
Box introduced desktop app Box Drive

Box unveiled Box Drive, a desktop application that works on Windows and MacOS. Users will be able to credit, edit, find and share files without pulling up a web browser. The desktop app makes it easier to access the cloud because it creates just another drive on your computer like your C drive, so inherently you’re interacting with your local file experience. The app itself is free, but large enterprises like General Electric, P&G and The Gap pay Box for added functionality. Existing customers will have access to the full range of Box Drive capabilities. Earlier this month, Box announced integration with Apple’s new Files app. It will be another way to access Box documents across iOS devices.
