09.12.25. Anthropic integrated Claude into Slack.

Anthropic has integrated its AI model, Claude, into Slack. Users can now interact with the model in channels, threads and private messages. Enterprise AI agents and chatbots powered by Claude can leverage context from the Slack workspace. Claude can participate in chats and assist in discussions, analyze documents or prepare responses to important messages directly within Slack. The model has access only to channels and conversations accessible to the specific user. When Claude is engaged in a public thread, it first creates a draft privately so that the author can review and edit it. Additionally, if a company uses Claude Code (one of the best code generation models available today), connecting it to Slack allows code generation to take into account technical agreements and decisions reached in meetings.
2025. Microsoft and Nvidia to invest $15 billion in Anthropic

American tech giants appear to be forming some sort of cartel in the field of artificial intelligence. Microsoft and Nvidia agreed will invest $15 billion in Anthropic, arguably OpenAI's main competitor. Under the agreement, Anthropic committed to purchasing $30 billion worth of Microsoft Azure cloud computing capacity (powered by NVidia graphics cards). Microsoft will integrate Anthropic's AI models into its own IT products and online services, alongside OpenAI's models. Thus, OpenAI's recent alliance with Nvidia is not a play against Microsoft, but rather part of a group deal. One might assume they're teaming up against Google, but a month ago, Anthropic also signed a major agreement with Google, which includes the supply of up to 1 million specialized AI chips. Now it's time for the deal between OpenAI and Google to complete the circle.
2024. Claude AI now has a desktop client and dictation functionality

Anthropic has released the Claude desktop app for Mac and Windows. It integrates Claude's capabilities directly into the user's workspace. The app is available to both free Claude users and those with a premium subscription. However, these apps do not yet include the recently announced "Computer Use" feature, which allows the updated version of Claude 3.5 Sonnet to perform tasks directly on the user's computer. Anthropic also introduced a dictation feature for Claude, but it is not yet available in the desktop version. However, on iOS, Android, and iPadOS, users can record and upload a message up to 10 minutes long for Claude to transcribe and respond to. It's important to note that this is not a real-time feature, but rather more like sending a voice message.
2024. AI assistant Claude for Android released

Anthropic has released Claude chatbot app for Android. The iOS app was released back in May. The Android app is also free and compatible with the paid Pro and Team plans. Users can have conversations with Claude on their devices and sync conversations between the web version and the iOS app. Claude is one of several broadcast AI chatbots currently available to the public. OpenAI and its ChatGPT tool typically receive the most attention. ChatGPT is also available as an app for Android and iOS, and it underpins many of the new Apple Intelligence features.
2023. Amazon invests $4B in AI startup Anthropic

Amazon has announced one of the largest investments in its history. The investment in the AI startup Anthropic will amount to a whopping $4 billion. As a reminder, Microsoft signed an agreement to invest $11 billion in OpenAI. This officially makes Anthropic OpenAI's main competitor (excluding Google startups). Anthropic was founded in 2021 by OpenAI alumni and, naturally, is developing a language model. The startup also has its own AI chatbot, Claude 2, which competes with ChatGPT. As part of the partnership, Anthropic's models will be powered by Amazon Web Services. Amazon likely wants to become a one-stop shop for artificial intelligence: its own chips for training models, selling this service, and AWS, which will handle all the processing.
