2020. Stripe is now available in 29 European countries

The Stripe payment system has launched in 13 more European countries, including Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and has added support for European payment methods, including Bancontact, EPS, Giropay, iDEAL, Przelewy24, and Sofort. This means, according to the company, it now operates in 29 European countries. Furthermore, Stripe has been investing in its European engineering center since 2018, and this launch was developed almost entirely by its European unit. This applies to everything from new integrations with financial institutions to expanded support for Stripe products. According to the company, the COVID-19 crisis has accelerated the shift from offline to online commerce, making the need for financial infrastructure more urgent than ever for European companies.
2019. Stripe launched its online billing service in Europe

Payment processing service Stripe has launched Stripe Billing in Europe. This service simplifies the recurring payment process for SaaS and subscription-based companies. Once a company assigns a customer to a specific pricing plan, Stripe handles everything else: charging customers on a set date, generating invoices and reminders, automatically updating card details, and accounting for receivables by automatically matching incoming payments with outgoing invoices. Stripe Billing supports the European Payment Services Directive (PSD2), Strong User Authentication (SCA), and VAT rates across the European Union. The logic for choosing recurring payment times in Stripe Billing is based on a machine learning model trained on transaction data from hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide in the Stripe network.
