2016. Microsoft makes it easy to switch from Evernote to OneNote


Microsoft released a new tool that makes it easier for Evernote users to make the transition to rival application OneNote, a part of the Microsoft Office suite. The “OneNote Importer tool,” as the software is called, aims to address the switching costs that can hold back users from making a move to a competing platform. Microsoft even goes for the hard sell here, reminding OneNote potential customers that the app is free on all devices, while Evernote Premium is a $50 per year product. For now the tool is running only on Windows, the version for Mac users is already in the works and will be released in the “coming months.”


2014. Microsoft OneNote becomes free



Online notebook-organizer OneNote always was a part of Microsoft Office and therefore was a paid program. When the free Office Online appeared, the online version of OneNote also became free, and later the free mobile OneNote apps for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone where released. However, the desktop version was still available only as part of paid MS Office. Today, Microsoft unveiled OneNote for Mac and announced that the desktop version for Windows and Mac is now free. Thus, Evernote gets the very serious competitor, which provides the same level of cross-platform availability, convenience and functionality. Besides OneNote can provide larger free cloud storage and collaboration features that only available in the paid version of Evernote.
