2019. OpenText acquired online backup service Carbonite for $1.42B
ECM giant Open Text has acquired Carbonite, known for its cloud backup service, for $1.42 billion. In the West, it is the most popular backup service, having acquired its main competitor, Mozy. However, in the last two years, Carbonite has expanded its expertise from online backup to online security. In February of this year, Carbonite acquired Webroot, a company specializing in ransomware protection, for $618.5 billion.
